Question : Is “Jai Ho” by Mozart?

• Person 1 : Off course “Jai Ho” is composed by our Mozart(Mozart of Asia A.R.Rahman)

• Person 2 : You Know what.”Jai Ho” is composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

• Person 1 : Hey, Are you Nuts?

• Person 2 : Hey Hey ..Be Relax..I just told that statement to provoke you..Cool Cool Cool.But I think Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart contributed some to the “Jai Ho” soundtrack…Check it out.

• Person 1 : I don’t understand your intention.

• Person 2 : Don’t you find any similarity between the above audio clip (Mozart Symphony No.40 – 1st movement) and the “jai Ho” tune.

• Person 1 : I think . . . . . . . . No

• Person 2 : Hey..I am not saying that the tune is copied.It should be a coincidence or minor case of inspiration…

• What is the connection between “Celestial Soda Pop” soundtrack from “Deep Breakfast” and “Mella Mella” song from Vaazhkai…?

• Celestial Soda Pop sounds somewhat similar to the song “Mella Mella”… Decide Yourself…

• A great Coincidence

• Deep Breakfast – Ray Lynch’s album was released on December 12 1984.(as per the Internet data)

• Vaazhkai – Ilaiyaraaja’s film album was released in 1984.

• The “Mella Mella” tune was already used as a background soundtrack in 1983 film “Pallavi Anu Pallavi” by Ilayaraja himself…

• I’ve listened to the soundtrack “Niniavo Oru Paravai” composed by Ilaiyaraaja for the movie “Sigappu Rojakkal” umpteen times.

• But just today I noticed that there is a tinge of Titanic theme in this number.

• This may be an illusion. But as a layman(Knows nothing about music notes and all), the similarity is somewhat interesting and new to me.

• Listen to the second interlude from “Ninaivo Oru Paravai” here.(at 00:20 – 00:29)

• You can hear the original “Titanic Theme” composed by James Horner somewhere in the Internet.

• Another soundtrack that comes to my mind with a feel of Titanic Theme is “Oh Unnale” composed by Ilayaraja for the movie “En Arugil Nee Irundhaal”(the prelude flute music)

• It is possible for a song or tune to have so many versions (may be in same language or in different languages).

• One such master piece which has multiple versions (all of them are great) is our Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s tune.

• First Version got released in the year 1982 for the Malayalam movie “Olangal” directed by the legendary director Balu Mahendra. Music by Ilaiyaraaja.The song is “Thumbi Vaa”.

• Second Version came out the same year for the Telugu Movie “Nireekshana” directed by Balu Mahendra. Music by Ilaiyaraaja and the song is “Aakasham enatidho”.

• Third Version came out one year later (1983) for the Tamil movie “Auto Raja” which has actor Vijayakanth in the lead role.

• Actually the movie “Auto Raja” has music composed by none other than Shankar Ganesh. The producer of the movie was impressed by the song “Thumbi Vaa” from Olangal.So he requested our Maestro Ilaiyaraaja to compose the same tune in Tamil and the final product is “ Sangathil Paadatha Kavidhai”

• And here comes the fourth version “Neer Veezhchi thee mootudhae” from the movie “Kanne Kalaimaane” which got released in the year 1988.Music by Ilaiyaraaja.

• And here is the final version “Monday Tho” from the movie “Aur Ek Prem Kahani” released in 1995.The movie is a remake of Kannada movie “Kokila” directed by Balu Mahendra. Music by Ilaiyaraaja …

• Note : The tune came as a background track in the movie “Moondram Pirai” directed by Balu Mahendra with Raaja sir’s Humming.I think this must be Balu Mahendra Sir’s favourite tune.He has used it in four of his movies so far.
