Few references about the alleged enemity between Mozart & Salieri.
I would only refer to it as a love-hate relationship, there should’ve been people like Shaji & Charu existing even then to push the relationship to the edge of enemity. But it also means that Mozart was not completely a person driven by Love, Love , Love as Shaji puts it.

I’m not exactly a Ilayaraja hard core fan but I consider him as a phenomenon. His life is as dramatic as it can get. From being a Dalit Pauper to a force that touched, calmed down, inspired every soul who has listened to his music. It is a marvelous achievement.

I have followed all his interviews, the criticism/ accolades on him. From what I deduced he is not the monster as he was portrayed by the media and the ignorants. It’s just that he thinks in a completely different plane. Lost in touch with Day to Day world – completely engulfed in music, he talks from his heart. No manipulative smiles, no eagerness to convince others etc.

I think he is the best a man can become. Not professionally but personally.

IR respects each and every composer. He praises each and every composer who has guided him including the not famous ones – most of them- we as a people who sit and judge- might have never heard off.
But IR remembers them because he understands how a music is created.

I have read Shaji’s article, his is all half truths. Probably he doesn’t know how, when and why an artist creates his work.
I always hoped to write a rebuttal to Shaji’s article. I was furious – not because of his accusations against IR but because of lack of basic research one has to do when one criticizes an artist.
( Thumbe Vaa and constantinople? Where did he get this information? From a stupid comment on msn site? or what? )
Also, when I listen to IR music, the anger in me fades away and forces me to leave Shaji in his own blunder ways of seeing the world of art.

I don’t understand Tamil. Can you translate your rebuttal to english please?
That would help me a lot. Thank you again.
